“Nothing can harm you as much as your own thoughts unguarded.” – Buddha
Our mind is the mightiest and the most domineering part of our physiology. It is the invincible that gives us strength to reach the highest vistas of success.
Yet it is the one worrywart that can drag us into the bottomless pit of negativity. And the only way out of this is to stop overthinking.
Here is a story of Prince Ea that will explain you how overthinking can create mental blocks that doesn’t even exist in reality.
Prince Ea Story on Stop Overthinking
Harry Houdini, a renowned magician claimed that he could break out any prison cell in just one hour.
One of the very old jails heard about Houdini’s claim and accepted his challenge. He was allowed to enter in jail with his street clothes on.
On the decided day, a lot of spectators gathered around the jail. Houdini walked confidently into the prison cell and the metal door was shut behind him.
Inside the prison cell, he first took off his coat and then his belt. Thereafter he took out his secret instrument – a ten-inch long steel, strong and flexible, that he had hidden behind his belt.
Armed with his strong enough tool to his aid, Houdini started unlocking the metal door. He tried every trick to unlock himself, but half an hour passed and he could not open the door.
The confidence that he was having earlier was disappeared. In a matter of one hour, he was completely drenched in his own sweat.
After two hours of relentlessly trying to open the door, he collapsed against the door and just as he collapsed, the door opened.
That was the time when he realized that the door was never locked in reality. However, the door was indeed locked. And why not?
After all, this door lock was to test the prowess of the most acclaimed magician Harry Houdini!
Sure, the door was locked, but, in his mind. So, what failed an ace magician like Houdini?
It was his own mind!
Call it over-confidence, overthinking, or being over-calculative – it was all the game of the mind.
This is not just the case with Houdini.
Our mind plays games with us every single moment. It keeps on creating dead ends and locked doors for us until we decide to defy it all together and move ahead.
“Everything in this cosmos is happening wonderfully well. But one nasty little thought coming up in your head is enough to make it a bad day.” – Sadhguru
Sadhguru Explains –
When we can function perfectly well with all other organs working all the time, why is that we are so deeply influenced by our mind?
The only way to stop our mind from overthinking is to rise above it.
Our mind is a terrible master but a very obedient servant. All we need to do is to tame our mind.
Yoga, mindfulness, and meditation are some of the practices that help us to rise above our mind.
Just like training every other muscle of our body, yoga and meditation, train our mind to work for us instead of making us to work according to its whims.
When our mind is calm and free from all the clatters, we can experience the true essence of life in the most beautiful way.
