You have to find out the ways to layer your makeup perfectly so it looks fab and stays longer.
Is there any way?
Yes!
A good skincare routine to prepare your skin for long-lasting makeup.
Keeping all these things in mind, we have comes up with a sequence of some skincare tips before makeups that will make your skin appear moisturized, smooth, youthful and radiant after makeups.
These simple 4 steps can make your skin ready for the perfect makeup look and help to stay it longer.
Its time to say goodbye to flaky skin!
Step 1: Cleanse Your Skin
Yes! Cleansing.
Cleansing is the first step before applying any skincare products.
Use a good foam cleanser or any homemade cleanser to remove dirt, dust and dead skin cells from your skin surface before applying any makeup.
Always choose cleanser according to your skin type.
For Dry Skin:
Prefer a cream, gel or oil cleanser that can moisture your skin while cleansing.
For Oily Skin:
Prefer a gentle, pH balanced gel or foam cleanser to remove oil and dirt.
For Normal Skin:
You can try a balm cleanser, pH balanced gel or foam cleanser that doesn’t interrupt your natural oils.
Some Cleansing Tips:
- Use lukewarm water to open up pores so, dirt, dust, and impurities can easily remove out from them. (Don’t mess with hot water as it may dry your skin).
- Pat dry your face with a clean. Don’t rub the towel over your skin.
- Wash your face twice a day.
Step 2: Tone Your Skin
Toning is what most women skip.
Even I was skipping before knowing some facts on why toner is necessary for the skin.
But after knowing that, I never skipped it.
A toner is a fast penetrating liquid that gives your skin a quick boost of hydration. It removes those stubborn dead cells, dirt, and bacteria from your skin surface that your cleanser might have missed.
It balances your skin natural pH and helps your skin to absorb your skincare products deeply.
You can understand this formula as if your skin is a dry sponge. If you put a thick cream, it won’t accept it. But if you wet this sponge, this cream will sink into more easily.
And the result, you get plumped, and glowing skin.
But if the residues are leftover, then they may stimulate oil production, prevent makeup from staying longer over your skin.
Especially if you have oily skin, don’t forget to tone it before makeup.
Go for the gentle toner with ingredients – rosemary, chamomile, and rose water.
Avoid toner or astringent having alcohol as that may strip with your natural oils.
You can try natural homemade toner too.
How to Apply Toner on Face:
- Take a cotton ball and dip it into the toner.
- Gently rub this cotton balls over your face and pet dry it.
It will add a layer of hydration to your skin and allows your make up to stay longer.
Step 3: Moisturize Your Skin
Moisturizing regularly is the key to happy and healthy skin.
For your long lasting makeups, we recommend hydrating your skin.
Here we’ll recommend you to wear a lighter moisturizer for the day with SPF 30, and the heavier one for your nighttime applications.
For Normal Skin: Use cream moisturizer.
For Dry Skin: Use thicker moisturizing gel, or face oil.
For Oily Skin: Use hydrating gel or a very light moisturizer.
This step will create a smooth, even surface for your make up to stay.
Now, let your moisturizer sink into the skin before you move to the primer.
Extra Moisturizing Tips:
- Add serum to your skincare routine.
- For dry or normal skin, use serum in the morning after cleansing, for oily skin, use serum at night so moisture doesn’t look greasy at day time.
- For extra glow, don’t forget to mist your face with rose water after moisturizing. Close your eyes as you mist.
Step 4: Time to Prime
Don’t forget to prime your skin for long-lasting makeups.
The primer provides a great base and creates an extra layer between your skin and makeup.
Using primers for makeup creates a smooth and even skin surface. It fills the fine lines and wrinkles to make your skin look glowing and evenly.
In the market, you may find tones of primers for your face skin, eyes, and lips. That’s why you need to be a little bit experimental about what suits on your skin.
Selecting primers totally depends on your makeup focus and beauty goals.

Step 5: Wear Your Make Up
Now, your skin is perfectly ready for the last step which is – makeup.
After cleaned, toned, moisturized and primed, your skin is ready to hold your make up for longer.
More you’ll be consistent in this routine, more your skin will look good and beautiful.
And this is the top reason for “how your make-up does not harm your skin.”
Let it glow beautifully.
